Physical Demands
The essential functions of this role require the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull weights regularly, with frequent lifting of 25-50 pounds. The position also necessitates prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.

Work conditions may involve exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and risks associated with managing patients with challenging behaviors or sharp instruments.

Work Schedule
Availability to work three 12-hour shifts weekly from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, including some weekends and holidays is essential.

Position Overview
Pediatrics 4 East is dedicated to the care of pediatric patients, from newborns to 18 years old, who require general medical and surgical attention.

Patients may present with various conditions, including recovery from surgical procedures, medical issues such as epilepsy, infectious diseases, renal complications, and failure to thrive.

Core Responsibilities
The primary duties for this role include delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care, which encompasses:
1. Assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a holistic nursing care plan.
2. Providing direct patient care and ensuring high levels of patient satisfaction.
3. Training and delegating tasks to Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistants).
4. Adhering to University policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local regulations.

This role promotes collaborative practices among nursing staff and physicians to enhance communication and improve patient outcomes, utilizing the nursing process alongside a comprehensive patient-centered care plan.

- Knowledge of Maslow's Basic Human Needs and Gordon's Functional Health Patterns Framework, along with Swanson's Caring Model.
- Excellent direct patient care and critical thinking abilities.

- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with patients, families, colleagues, and physicians.
- Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and delegation capabilities.

The candidate should be motivated, proactive, and confident in advocating for patients and their families, thriving in a collaborative team environment while maintaining open and honest communication with staff and physicians.

Additionally, the ideal applicant will demonstrate outstanding technical skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with a minimum of one year of RN experience is preferred.
