Military Human Resources Coordinator

This role is classified as an Open Title 5 Excepted Service Non-Uniformed Personnel position, accessible to the public and veterans under the MN National Guard Merit Placement plan.

Key Responsibilities:
This position encompasses a variety of critical functions, including but not limited to:
1. Serving as a final reviewer and/or processor of personnel actions, which may include:
- Accessions
- Discharges and separations
- Promotions and awards
- Transfers and reductions
- Non-Commissioned Officer Evaluation Reports (NCOERs)
- Office Evaluation Reports (OERs)
- Promotion eligibility and Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) matters
- Retirement eligibility and various personnel management systems.
2. Conducting thorough research to gather all pertinent information regarding cases and issues, providing clear explanations and interpretations of applicable rules, regulations, and procedures.
3. Drafting and preparing necessary correspondence for appropriate signatures and entering data into automated systems as required.
4. Acting as the primary point of contact for Military Funeral Honors or Casualty Assistance programs, offering advisory services to family members of deceased military personnel and liaising with various organizations and offices.
Conditions of Employment:
- U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
- A current completed/clear drug test is required prior to appointment.
- This position may require successful completion of a probationary period and may involve irregular and overtime hours to meet operational needs.
Qualifications:
To qualify, candidates must possess specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, demonstrating progressively responsible clerical or office work that indicates the ability to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for this role. Experience with computer and automation systems is essential.
Education:
Education beyond the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. Documentation supporting educational claims must be provided.
Additional Information:
This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may require travel for temporary duty assignments. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
