Job Summary

YWCA Dayton is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Programming Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Children's Programming team, you will provide supportive services to children who have witnessed and/or experienced domestic violence and residing with a parent enrolled in YWCA programming.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advocacy services and emotional, trauma-informed support to children involved in YWCA programs, including the domestic violence shelter and housing programs.
  • Serve as a lead agency resource on issues related to children and teens who have been affected by violence.
  • Coordinate and facilitate referrals to appropriate providers and resources.
  • Work cooperatively with parents and other agency staff members to continually meet the needs of children.
  • Provide regularly scheduled childcare for children residing in the domestic violence shelter and agency housing programs.
  • Support Children's Program in developmentally appropriate activities and programs.
  • Maintain accurate and on-going documentation in individual client files via electronic record-keeping software, forms and reports following contract requirements, agency and department policies and procedures.
  • Respond to emergency and crisis situations involving children.
  • Attend agency and department meetings.
  • Attend interagency and networking meetings as appropriate.
  • Generate reports and statistical data required for program in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree in early childhood development, education, or related field; OR a minimum of 2 years' experience in early childhood development, education, childcare, or related field.
  • Flexibility and the ability to handle emergency situations.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of families in crisis.
  • Strong analytical skills - able to solve problems, make decisions, perform crisis intervention, etc.
  • Willing to follow supervisory directions and attend trainings, staff meetings and conferences as needed for the position.
  • Good computer skills, with the ability to maintain accurate electronic records.
  • Good communication and interpersonal problem resolution skills.
