Schedule: Part Time Seasonal (20 hours per week) Monday to Friday 2:00pm - 6:00pm

Function: The Strong Kids, Healthy Kids (SK2) after school initiative employs After School Program Coordinators to oversee a classroom of youth from Kindergarten through 8th Grade. This program is offered at no cost to our community and serves a diverse group of students from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. The Program Coordinator will execute the curriculum and schedule established by the Education Programming Specialist for their classroom. While the specific tasks and responsibilities may vary depending on the program, the Coordinator's character and demeanor must consistently reflect the Christian values and mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities:
Duties include:
- Prepare the classroom for daily activities
- Take attendance and check in students using an iPad and paper check-in sheet if necessary
- Establish classroom expectations for students to adhere to
- Document incidents as needed and utilize official communication tools (radios)
- Attend all required training sessions and meetings
- Exhibit the ability to engage positively with children of all ages
- Employ excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, church members, students, and all guests
- Complete end-of-day tasks such as sanitizing surfaces, organizing supplies, and resetting the room for potential non-SK2 events
- Maintain a positive attitude and a readiness to assist wherever necessary
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changes in schedule and duties
- Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all participants
- Plan age-appropriate activities or games.

- Encourage and facilitate student participation in all planned activities.
- Assist students with homework and lead reading and math-related activities or games.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Proficient in reading, writing, and clear communication in English
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, take initiative when necessary, and follow directions from The Salvation Army team
- Passion for working with children
- Capability to relate well to individuals with diverse needs
- Professional handling of challenging situations.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience working with children in either traditional or non-traditional settings (e.g., Sunday School, Scouts)
- Understanding and appreciation for the mission of The Salvation Army
- Safety-conscious mindset
- Display of good character through words and actions.
