About the Role

The Maintenance Manager will provide functional leadership and direction to the maintenance team, reporting directly to the Facility Manager. This position requires a proven leader who can provide vision and leadership to achieve daily, yearly, and long-term asset reliability goals through the application of maintenance best practices site-wide.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety Leadership: Ensure individual and team safety remain top priority in the planning and execution of all tasks.
  • Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management: Work closely with Company EHS personnel to target zero incidents and continuous improvement of site EHS performance.
  • Maintenance Improvement: Continuous improvement in maintenance approach, encouraging initiatives to reduce safety risk, increase productivity and efficiency, and reduce maintenance cost.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Planning and Development: Plan, develop, and implement innovative methods and procedures to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Maintenance Shop Management: Manage Maintenance Shops comprised of both Mechanical and E&I crafts with advanced skills.
  • Long-term Maintenance Planning: Develop a 5-year long-term maintenance plan for the site.
  • Metric Dashboard Management: Maintain a metric dashboard for maintenance that drives improvement and helps prioritize actions.
  • Budgeting and Cost Management: Develop yearly and monthly maintenance budgets and the activities to ensure alignment and achievement of budgets; identify opportunities to improve business and provide for short and long-term actions that reduce cost.
  • Work Management Program (WMP) Leadership: Provide overall leadership and direction for the site WMP to be cost competitive by utilizing correct application of best practices.
  • Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Support: Support a CMMS and other associated tools.
  • Outage Planning and Maintenance: Provide overall direction and vision for Outage Planning and Maintenance processes and teams that plan and coordinate the implementation of shutdowns.
  • Reliability Improvement: Utilize lean strategies to drive reliability improvements and identify gaps between reliability goals and plant performance.
  • Root Cause Analysis and Preventive Maintenance: Set expectations for reliability efforts to develop solutions to repetitive failures through root cause analysis and through preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Equipment Inspection: Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Collaboration and Problem-Solving: Confer with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Experience: Waste-to-Energy maintenance experience or a solid background in power or industrial or chemical plant maintenance, including a minimum of 5 years supervisor/manager experience.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor Degree/Engineering degree preferred.
  • Maintenance Budgeting and Methodologies: Must have knowledge of maintenance budgeting and methodologies.
  • Spare Parts Inventory Management: Must manage spare parts inventory to optimum levels.
  • Computer Skills: Good computer skills, able to work with ALM/Peoplesoft, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Electrical and Instrumentation Knowledge: Must possess good knowledge of electrical and instrumentation, including the National Electric Code and familiarity with NFPA Arc Flash safety regulations.
  • Work Management Processes: Proficiency in work management processes, including planning & scheduling and preventative maintenance and outages.
  • Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance: Thorough understanding of Mechanical Integrity and Quality Assurance Practices and systems.
  • Reliability Tools: Familiar with reliability tools such as Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
Physical Demands of the Role:
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift/carry 50lbs.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces.
  • Respiratory Protection: Qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
