Job Title: EEG Specialist II

Join our team of dedicated professionals at Nationwide Children's Hospital as an EEG Specialist II. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of electroneurodiagnostic procedures on patients with suspected neurologic injury and disease.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for long-term testing and collect information pertinent to the interpretation of test results.
  • Adapt recording methods and instrumentation to obtain results based on history and clinical observation.
  • Recognize and eliminate artifact and electrical interference to obtain high-quality tracings.
  • Understand EEG, EMG, ECG, respiratory, and oximetry patterns, as well as recognition of other physiologic patterns.
  • Provide appropriate patient care and detailed observations of clinical manifestations during seizures and other patient-emergency situations.
  • Participate in conferences, technical meetings, and other educational activities.
  • Serve as a training instructor for junior staff, technologist trainees, and other medical personnel.
  • Write a summary of the patient's neurological status and clinical history from the chart, patient, parent, guardian, or other knowledgeable person(s).
  • Explain the procedure to the patient and/or any family members present.
  • Answer phones, schedule procedures, and attend to front office responsibilities during periods of high volume or co-worker illness.
  • Facilitate the transportation of equipment and patients as necessary to complete the daily work schedule.
  • Maintain department records and prepare tracings for storage.
  • Contribute to the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program in the institution and department.
  • Maintain CQI records for the lab.
  • Maintain supplies at a reasonable level and order supplies.
  • Process patient charge information.
  • Maintain equipment in a calibrated and clean fashion.
  • Distribute a Patient Satisfaction Survey to the patient or parent/guardian.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences or related field preferred.
  • Technologist registered by the American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists.
  • Certification in Long-term Monitoring (CLTM).
  • Current CPR certificate.
  • Proficient in computer operations/technology.
