Role Overview

This role necessitates a comprehensive understanding and active engagement in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. As a Registered Nurse, you will employ the nursing process and clinical standards to oversee, deliver, and coordinate nursing care for observation and outpatient surgical patients, adhering to the policies and procedures of the Observation Care Unit. Responsibilities encompass directing the activities of unlicensed personnel, synthesizing patient information, assessing patients, planning care, implementing treatment plans, and evaluating the care provided. Effective communication and documentation relevant to patient care are essential.

The Registered Nurse will integrate knowledge of patient demographics, cultural diversity, and psychosocial needs into individualized care plans. You will also contribute to the enhancement of nursing care quality through performance improvement initiatives that yield positive patient outcomes. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals is crucial to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired health outcomes. Participation in the call rotation is required.

Key Responsibilities

* Utilize the nursing process and established practice standards as a framework for managing patient care.

* Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and appropriate interventions.

* Exhibit leadership in coordinating patient care across the healthcare continuum, striving to meet desired patient outcomes.

* Delegate tasks to licensed and unlicensed personnel as necessary.

* Demonstrate proficiency in the clinical information system and apply principles to patient documentation.

* Develop a teaching plan based on identified patient learning needs and assess the effectiveness of the education provided; include family members as appropriate.

* Serve as a role model and mentor for new staff members.

* Demonstrate the ability to integrate knowledge of job-specific competencies.

* Identify, develop, and implement a self-development/professional growth action plan, including peer review.

* Recognize and report both subtle and obvious patient issues to the appropriate resource personnel, considering multidisciplinary team members and/or Chain of Command.

* Address the age-specific needs of all populations served: adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

* Contribute to a safe and effective working environment.

* Maintain positive and constructive interactions.

* Prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

* Adhere to company policies, procedures, and directives.

* Compensation placement is based on various factors, including relevant experience and qualifications. Additional compensation may be available for this role, including shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications

* Current CA RN license required.

* BSN required.

* Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

* Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.

* One year of acute care experience in Medical Surgical or Telemetry in an acute setting is required.

* EKG certification required.

* NIH certification preferred.

* Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
