Role Responsibilities:
The Clinical Nurse II role represents the journey level where professionals possess the requisite nursing experience and are adept at independently providing a full spectrum of clinical nursing services related to patient care. Responsibilities include:
- Advocating for patients by effectively communicating their needs to other healthcare providers.
- Administering medications and providing essential patient care, including skin and wound management and activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Creating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care plans while maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Collecting and analyzing patient information to address nursing needs and collaborating with physicians during procedures and diagnostic assessments.
- Overseeing telemetry systems and notifying primary nurses of any significant changes in patient conditions.
- Assuming leadership responsibilities, including team leadership or charge nurse duties, as assigned.
- Fostering a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and their families, while ensuring infection control measures are in place.
- Contributing to the establishment of patient care standards and participating in quality assurance initiatives.
- Monitoring patients for critical changes and initiating appropriate interventions, while documenting care in accordance with established standards.
- Educating patients and their families on healthcare practices and disease prevention techniques.
Qualifications:
Education:
A graduate of an accredited Nursing Program is required; a Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of six months as a Clinical Nurse I with relevant experience or equivalent full-time experience in a comparable role within a hospital setting is required.
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid Registered Nurse license in the State of California is mandatory. Additional certifications such as ACLS, BLS, and others may be required based on departmental needs.
Additional Information:
Applicants must possess at least one year of experience in psychiatric nursing within a hospital environment, specifically working with adult patients.
