Role Overview:
The IT Business Consultant will engage with stakeholders to extract comprehensive insights from the CDPS IT organization.
Responsibilities include:
- Adhering to law enforcement protocols.
- Leading discussions with varied IT stakeholders to gather essential information.
- Documenting and visualizing IT landscapes effectively.
- Familiarity with CMDB and application portfolio management tools is crucial.
- Completing necessary onboarding and fingerprinting processes.
- Supporting the Client Portfolio Manager during the early phases of project initiation, including discovery and initiation stages.
- Collaborating with project stakeholders to outline requirements and assist in solution engineering for project initiatives.
- Limit the time allocated for high-level estimates and impact assessments to a maximum of 15 hours during the project rationalization phase.
- Engaging with stakeholders to comprehend business cases and solicit requirements.
- Consulting with solution engineers to ensure clarity in requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree in Business IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Proficiency in Agile methodologies, business analysis, and data analysis skills.
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira and Microsoft Excel.
- Proven experience in eliciting requirements and conducting testing.
- Solid experience in writing SQL queries.
- Basic knowledge in creating process documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect business requirements from users and translate them into functional and technical specifications.
- Document business processes and recommend best practices.
- Act as a liaison between business units and IT (QA, testing, developers).
- Convert business needs into actionable requirements statements.
- Assess the business impact of requested and ongoing system enhancements.
- Participate in project teams to ensure implementations meet business needs and optimize process and system integration.
- Engage in enterprise-level project teams to identify and implement process and system enhancements.
- Determine the appropriate course of action for new requests: immediate resolution through existing functionality, support requests for quick implementation, or as part of a larger project.
- Utilize expertise in business processes for IT systems, including business case development, requirements gathering, gap analysis, process mapping, solution design, and support.
- Actively manage customer expectations and communicate the status of pending projects.
- Track the backlog of requests and work with customers to incorporate these into subsequent projects based on priority.
- Demonstrate the ability to translate complex business requirements into functional specifications.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience as a business analyst focused on enterprise applications and IT systems.
- Desired expertise in business processes related to Accounting and Billing, Finance/Controlling, HR/Benefits/Payroll, Procurement, Contract Management, Quality Assurance, and Legal/Regulatory.
- Experience in business case development, requirements gathering and definition, gap analysis, process mapping, and solution design.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
- Proven success as a business analyst, with a demonstrated ability to facilitate discussions and build consensus.
- Capability to produce high-quality requirements documents, process maps, and use case diagrams.
- Proficiency in using various tools such as Visio and PowerPoint to graphically represent workflow diagrams, process flows, and other gathered information.
