Role Overview

The Senior Catastrophe Risk Manager will spearhead, assist, and implement catastrophe risk management initiatives and projects in collaboration with relevant teams within the organization. This position will be responsible for leading and crafting solutions alongside various departments to address catastrophe risk challenges. Together with the team, the individual will propose solutions to business inquiries and oversee the advancement of projects.

Compensation Details:

Salary Range: $109,000 - $186,000.00

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and refine the framework for utilizing catastrophe risk management software for data entry, model configuration, execution, result analysis, and loss evaluation.
  • Facilitate discussions with business stakeholders to ascertain their requirements and propose relevant initiatives.
  • Oversee the development of dashboards that deliver insights into catastrophe exposure trends utilizing outputs from catastrophe models.
  • Utilize portfolio and underwriting tools to evaluate peril exposures beyond conventional catastrophe vendor models, including but not limited to wildfire, flood, and sinkhole.
  • Translate complex catastrophe loss outcomes into actionable insights for business needs, including support for DOI filings.
  • Create analytical tools, reports, and datasets to comprehend the effects of natural disasters on the enterprise's operations, employing various geospatial analysis techniques.
  • Lead the assessment of newer versions of catastrophe management software and models while exploring industry best practices and strategies in earth science technologies.
  • Engage in the selection of research tools and technologies, design a unified research process, and brainstorm new opportunities and methodologies related to earth science.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and business strategies.
  • Proactively introduce innovative ideas and approaches to enhance business development.
  • May be assigned additional tasks or projects based on skills, accomplishments, or experience.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in delivering customer-focused solutions, support, or services.
  • Advanced understanding of catastrophe management software and peril models.
  • Strong grasp of natural catastrophe risk and its application within the insurance sector and catastrophe modeling.
  • Solid knowledge of earth science and property insurance to conduct complex financial, actuarial, or business analyses.
  • Good understanding of geospatial software tools and data.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and communicate clearly.
  • Proficiency in programming languages suitable for database access, scripting, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience in handling large volumes of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate complex products and/or lines of business.
  • Experience in making independent decisions and applying project management methodologies, practices, and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate discussions with diverse team members.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 10% travel may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily involves sitting/standing.
