The Medical Assistant II, Certified provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare teams in an outpatient setting. This role requires certification and at least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified.
Responsibilities- Collect patient data, including vital signs and medical history.
- Assist providers with treatments, examinations, and procedures.
- Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy.
- Administer medications under provider direction.
- Perform tests, such as EKG and eye exams, under provider direction.
- Review patient records for routine health screenings.
- Prepare and maintain exam and treatment rooms.
- Assist with patient registration, scheduling, and referrals.
- Answer clinic phone and assist with in-basket tasks.
- Participate in emergency situations as directed.
- Medical Assistant certification by a recognized organization.
- Basic Life Support Certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- At least one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as a team with staff and providers.
This position is employed by UNC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System.
