Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Law Enforcement Officer to join our team at Santa Fe County. As a Sheriff's Deputy, you will be responsible for enforcing laws, protecting life and property, and providing excellent customer service to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol county areas and roads to prevent and respond to crimes, enforce traffic safety, and provide assistance to citizens.
  • Conduct field interviews, interrogations, and arrests as necessary, and perform preliminary and follow-up investigations of crimes.
  • Assist investigators at major crime scenes, provide traffic control and accident investigation, and participate in sobriety check points.
  • Respond to emergency situations, serve arrest warrants, and transport prisoners as required.
  • Testify in court, serve civil and criminal paperwork, and maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Provide security for courts, judges, and the judicial annex, and enforce federal and state laws and county ordinances.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five years of experience as a certified Law Enforcement Officer.
  • Valid and current certification as a Law Enforcement Officer within the United States.
  • U.S. citizenship.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in various weather conditions, shift work, and on-call hours. Travel is required, and the incumbent must be able to drag 175 pounds for 15 feet and lift up to 50 pounds. Manual and finger dexterity are required, and the incumbent may be subject to cuts, bruises, scrapes, burns, broken bones, insect and/or animal bites, germs, bacteria, viruses, environmental allergens, gases, and fumes.
