About the Role

The State of New Mexico is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Special Agent to join our Securities Division. As a Special Agent, you will play a critical role in enforcing the New Mexico Uniform Securities Act and protecting investors in our state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct complex investigations into allegations of securities fraud and other financial crimes
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies to share intelligence and best practices
  • Prepare detailed investigative reports and present findings to prosecutors and other stakeholders
  • Work closely with victims of securities fraud to provide support and guidance
Requirements
  • Be a current sworn peace officer approved by the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy
  • Have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Have at least four years of experience investigating white-collar crimes, including securities fraud
  • Be certified as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or have equivalent experience
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to changing circumstances. You will be required to work normal business hours, but may also be required to work evenings and weekends to document suspicious activity and meet with victims.
