Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Law Enforcement Officer to join our team at Santa Fe County. As a key member of our Public Safety Department, you will be responsible for enforcing laws, protecting life and property, and providing exceptional service to our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect crime, and to enforce traffic laws and regulations.
  • Conduct field interviews, interrogations, and arrests as necessary, and participate in investigations of crimes committed within the patrol area.
  • Assist in serving arrest warrants, and provide backup to other officers as needed.
  • Respond to emergency situations, and provide medical, emergency, or motorist assistance as required.
  • Participate in sobriety check points, and provide traffic control and accident investigation as needed.
  • Prepare and submit timely, accurate, and complete paperwork as required.
  • Provide security for courts, judges, and the judicial annex as required.
  • Enforce Federal and State laws and County ordinances, and book suspects into jail as necessary.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy law officer certification program.
  • Must possess a valid/current certification as a Law Enforcement Officer within the United States.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in both an office and outdoors, in varied weather conditions. Work schedule shall include shift, evening, weekend, holiday, and on-call hours. Travel is required. May require arduous physical exertion under vigorous and unusual conditions.
