This role requires a hands-on leader capable of executing tasks and projects both directly and through team collaboration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to all environmental health and safety (EHS) policies, practices, protocols, and regulations. Proactively identify and address potential EHS concerns and report any unsafe conditions. Promote a positive example regarding EHS and foster a safety-first culture; ensuring compliance with 6S for safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Work closely with the EHS Manager to ensure that environmental, health, and safety considerations are effectively integrated into all projects, including capital equipment installations and modifications.
  • Lead the Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Programming teams while collaborating with Product/R&D Engineering, Sales, and Operations teams to ensure streamlined, efficient, and cost-effective processes; maintain quality of work; and facilitate proactive communication.
  • Initiate, manage, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance across operations and within areas of direct responsibility.
  • Provide oversight, direction, and project management for the acquisition, design, installation, and commissioning of new or modified equipment and facility changes.
  • Manage capital projects efficiently to ensure service, quality, and value are achieved within the allocated budget. Secure necessary approvals and maintain tracking and documentation of expenditures.
  • Assist in developing the annual plan for capital equipment and facilities, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and goals.
  • Coach and mentor the engineering team to cultivate best practices in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving various process and production challenges.
  • Support the development of new products and processes while ensuring effective handoff and implementation to manufacturing through clear communication and established processes.
  • Monitor, report, and achieve equipment uptime targets through the implementation and management of a preventive maintenance (PM) plan. Identify and address any gaps in the PM program.
  • Enhance the capabilities of maintenance technicians in troubleshooting and problem-solving by identifying required competencies, existing gaps, and establishing development pathways to ensure adequate knowledge levels to support manufacturing needs.
  • Utilize MPulse maintenance software to generate data, establish metrics, and manage effectiveness to ensure departmental goals and expectations are met.
  • Ensure that equipment programs are completed on schedule and with high quality to support the manufacturing timeline, collaborating with product design and development, manufacturing engineering, and operations to optimize programming.
  • Drive improvements in program efficiency to minimize cut time and tooling costs, and standardize processes where feasible for ease of training and use by manufacturing staff.
  • Oversee the activities of direct reports, manage performance, facilitate professional development, and handle the annual performance review and merit increase process, ensuring timely and meaningful completion of evaluations.
  • Effectively utilize resources and project management tools to meet project objectives, analyze data, and distribute status reports including action items, schedules, and budgets while ensuring collaboration and communication with all stakeholders.
  • Provide engineering drawings using AutoCAD and perform engineering calculations to support assigned projects.
