Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Administrative Officer II to join our team at the North Carolina Department of Transportation. This role will be responsible for the coordination of all activities associated with the management and oversight of the Central Inventory and Distribution Center operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the receiving, inspection, and positioning of property entering the system.
  • Care and maintenance of property while in storage.
  • Management activities associated with periodic inventories.
  • Removal of property from stock for issue transfer or disposal.
  • Packaging property for shipment for field activities.
  • Development of policies and procedures associated with Central Inventory and Distribution Center programs.
  • Technical assistance in warehouse support to field activities with division equipment superintendents and parts supervisors.
  • Coordination of warehouse storage capabilities with the requirements supervisor.
  • Development and coordination of interfaces with other program managers.
  • Personnel management for thirteen employees.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution.
  • Three years of experience in personnel, budgeting, research, or administrative management.
  • Considerable knowledge of inventory management and operation of central inventory and the support of field operations in normal and emergency conditions.
  • Experience in computer software programs (MS Office Word and Excel), SAP, the internet, and Outlook/email, including considerable knowledge of the SAP Material Management Module.
  • Experience supervising and coordinating the activities of lower-level employees, providing instruction to them in proper work methods, and administering the Department's performance evaluation system.
  • Experience in providing customer service and establishing effective working relationships with the public, departmental personnel, and external agencies.
