Job Overview

Position Summary:

This role entails comprehensive oversight of plant operations, encompassing safety and environmental compliance, quality assurance, maintenance, production management, and leadership of all personnel at the facility. The individual will report directly to the Area Manager and collaborate closely to achieve operational objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

Safety & Environmental Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to all relevant State, Federal, Company, and MSHA regulations for the plant and all personnel.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of site hazards and implement safe job planning and procedures.

Team Management:

  • Facilitate appropriate training and guidance for employees to perform their assigned roles effectively.
  • Oversee the development and management of staff, including coaching, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Collaborate with HR for all employee-related matters, including investigations and staffing changes.
  • Enhance employee productivity, operational efficiency, and morale by fostering a positive workplace culture.
  • Work alongside Sales to synchronize production with customer demands.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Manager to ensure product standards meet industry and customer specifications.
  • Engage with external vendors to secure necessary services for optimal facility performance.
  • Organize work assignments for plant clerical staff.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Develop and manage production schedules to meet sales forecasts and optimize production balance.
  • Maintain and update operational and inventory data.
  • Contribute to the creation of an annual operating budget, including production volumes and capital improvements.
  • Manage costs and production to achieve or surpass budgetary targets.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators, including operational efficiency metrics.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all production meets state and customer quality standards.
  • Oversee quality control personnel in conjunction with the quality control manager.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to address and resolve customer quality concerns.

Innovation & Improvement:

  • Analyze production data to identify optimization opportunities for plant operations and equipment.
  • Work with engineering to establish long-term capital replacement strategies.
  • Identify new product opportunities in collaboration with the sales team.
  • Implement cost-saving and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

Community Engagement & Personal Development:

  • Engage in community relations and legislative efforts, participating in outreach and educational initiatives.
  • Recognize personal development needs to facilitate career advancement.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a leadership role, with a minimum of 5 years in the aggregate industry preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; BS/BA Degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams and foster effective collaboration.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook and Excel.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical components and relevant procedures.
  • Valid Driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods on various terrains.
  • Capability to navigate ladders, stairways, and inclined surfaces.
  • Physical ability to bend, crouch, or kneel as necessary.
  • Capacity to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
