Position Summary:
This role is accountable for comprehensive management of the manufacturing facility, encompassing safety and environmental compliance, quality assurance, maintenance operations, production oversight, and leadership of all personnel at the site. The position will report to the Area Manager and will collaborate closely to achieve operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety & Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to all relevant State, Federal, Company, and MSHA regulations for the plant and all personnel.
- Possess a thorough understanding of site hazards and implement safe job planning and procedures.
Personnel Management:
- Guarantee that staff receive adequate training and guidance to fulfill their job responsibilities.
- Oversee the development and management of all team members, including coaching, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
- Collaborate with HR for all employee-related matters, including investigations and personnel changes.
- Enhance employee productivity, operational efficiency, customer service, retention, and morale by fostering a positive workplace culture.
- Work in conjunction with Sales to align production with customer demands.
- Coordinate with the Quality Manager to ensure product standards meet industry and customer specifications.
- Engage with external vendors to secure necessary services for optimal facility performance.
- Manage work assignments for plant administrative staff.
Performance Management & Reporting:
- Plan and schedule production needs (personnel and equipment) to support sales forecasts and optimize production efficiency.
- Maintain and update operational and inventory data.
- Contribute to the development of the annual operating budget, including production targets and capital enhancements.
- Manage costs and production to meet or exceed budgetary expectations.
- Track and report on key performance indicators such as production rates, equipment uptime, and operational costs.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all production meets state and customer quality standards.
- Oversee quality control personnel in collaboration with the quality control manager.
- Work with the sales team to address and resolve any customer quality concerns.
Innovation & Improvement:
- Analyze production data to identify opportunities for optimizing plant operations and equipment.
- Collaborate with engineering to assess long-term capital replacement needs.
- Identify new product opportunities in partnership with the sales team.
- Seek out cost-saving and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Community Engagement & Personal Development:
- Utilize resources for community relations and participate in outreach and educational initiatives.
- Identify personal development opportunities to facilitate career advancement.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a management role, with a preference for 5 years in the aggregate industry.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required; a BS/BA degree is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Ability to motivate teams and foster effective collaboration.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills are necessary.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook and Excel, is required.
- Basic understanding of mechanical components and related procedures is necessary.
- A valid Driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
- Willingness to travel frequently to various sites.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods on various surfaces.
- Capability to ascend and descend ladders and stairways.
- Ability to bend, crouch, and kneel as needed.
- Capacity to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
