Business Development Specialist

The Business Advisor plays a vital role in delivering business development training and one-on-one advising to emerging entrepreneurs in rural communities, helping them start and grow their businesses.
Key Responsibilities- Business Development Support: Provide training and advising to clients on business development, focusing on needs assessment, goal setting, feasibility analysis, action planning, business planning, and management systems development.
- New Client Screening: Screen potential clients to determine eligibility, program fit, and readiness for business development services, working with Program Coordinators to complete intake and enrollment processes.
- Outreach: Perform outreach activities to inform the community about the Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship, developing a strong referral partner network throughout the region.
- Training: Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate business development training programs, including the Start Simple Business course and the Comadres business accelerator.
- Recordkeeping: Record and report on client activities using a proprietary client management system, following established policies and guidelines.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A commitment to diversity and ability to relate to individuals from various backgrounds and cultures.
- Knowledge of small business operations and management principles.
- Strong consulting and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex procedures clearly.
- Conversational Spanish language skills.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and other relevant software.
- A customer service orientation and ability to provide friendly and flexible services.
- Agile self-starter skills, with the ability to exercise independent judgment and complete tasks without direct supervision.
- A team player attitude and approach to work.
A Bachelor's Degree in business or a related field, or equivalent work experience, is required. Experience working with diverse communities and using client management software is also essential.
