Mechanical Equipment Inspector

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Equipment Inspector to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a key member of our Facilities Management Services department, you will be responsible for maintaining, inspecting, and repairing HVAC and other equipment to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain chillers, split systems, pumps, boilers, heaters, and related equipment on a daily basis.
- Perform vibration analysis, nondestructive testing, lubricating, and other maintenance testing to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
- Assist in the planning and scheduling of preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
- Coordinate the work of contractors and vendors for the maintenance of equipment, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
- Prepare inspection and related reports on mechanical and building equipment to inform maintenance and repair decisions.
- Perform general repair work of doors and windows, as well as minor electrical wiring and plumbing tasks.
- Perform general maintenance duties, such as replacing light bulbs and other minor tasks.
Requirements:
- Technical or vocational degree and two years of HVAC experience, or high school diploma or GED and four years of HVAC experience, or a combination of education and related experience.
- Must have EPA Technician CFC/HCFC and HFC Universal certification, or be certified within six months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of large chiller systems and building, mechanical, and trades areas.
- Effective oral and written communication skills to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze and solve equipment failures, and access confined spaces as needed.
