Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Services Manager to join our team at Hillsborough County. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the overall construction contract management of the County's Capital Improvement Program for transportation and stormwater programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the construction phase work activities for transportation and stormwater capital projects.
  • Direct the work of professional staff and consultant project managers, including scheduling, assigning, and reviewing work.
  • Prepare, monitor, and analyze section budget for appropriation and expenditures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements, best management practices, and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies for one to five-year timeframe to achieve departmental, county, and BOCC goals.
  • Cultivate good rapport with other sections within the department and external entities to maintain productive levels of communication.
  • Negotiate critical and/or controversial issues with top-level engineers, managers, division and department directors.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • 8 years of experience specializing in civil engineering, highway and/or stormwater construction engineering.
  • Possession of a current Florida Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in emergency management and response.
Working Conditions

The majority of working conditions occur within an office setting. At times, field reviews occur on major construction sites. Occasionally, requires travel, including overnight.

Physical Demands

Requires frequent standing, sitting, walking, and stooping.
