Position Overview

We are seeking a Charge Nurse for our facility. In this role, you will assist the Nursing Supervisor in overseeing comprehensive patient care within the nursing unit, along with managing unit operations.

Compensation: $28 to $40 per hour, depending on LPN/RN licensure and experience. Additional shift differentials are available for evening and weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administrative duties and patient care management
  • Supervising and guiding STNA staff
  • Ensuring compliance with departmental policies among personnel, medical staff, patients, and visitors
  • Operating within the unit as designated by the Director of Nursing or Supervisor
  • Reviewing the 24-hour report sheet for updates in patient care requirements
  • Conducting rounds and supervising nursing assistant care
  • Administering medications (including IV) and treatments as per physician directives
  • Addressing the spiritual and psychological needs of patients using available resources
  • Facilitating and directing the patient admission and discharge processes
  • Exchanging reports with incoming staff at shift changes
  • Transcribing physician orders
  • Responding to telephone inquiries
  • Assessing patient care needs and updating individual care plans
  • Managing patient admissions in the absence of the documentation nurse, including:
    • Verifying physician orders
    • Transcribing pre-admission data
    • Coordinating diagnostic and therapeutic needs
    • Ordering medications and treatments
    • Communicating dietary needs
    • Completing necessary admission documentation
  • Coordinating patient transfers and discharges, including:
    • Arranging transportation
    • Communicating with family or responsible parties
    • Completing relevant paperwork
  • Maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Overseeing the cleaning and maintenance of equipment and appliances
  • Facilitating communication across all departments
  • Ensuring overall safety and cleanliness of the unit
  • Welcoming and directing visitors to the unit
Qualifications:
  • A valid nursing license in the state of Ohio
  • Completion of required continuing education hours
  • Good physical and mental health
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to elderly care
  • Willingness to perform non-professional duties as needed
  • Ability to remain calm and provide direction in emergencies
  • Commitment to prioritizing patient needs
