Job Summary

LEWIS ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Vessel Operator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our marine vessels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Navigation and Operations: Ensure the safe navigation of our vessels, including the operation of radar, depth finders, radios, buoys, lights, and lighthouses.
  • Vessel Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of our vessels to ensure they are in good working condition and compliant with regulations.
  • Crew Management: Supervise and manage a team of deckhands and crew members to ensure the smooth operation of our vessels.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with the United States Coast Guard and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and safety protocols.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; two or more years of experience in boat operation preferred.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Firm knowledge of marine craft communication, signaling, and navigation systems; boating license required; experience operating a 20ft or larger work boat preferred.

  • Leadership and Supervision: Proven ability to lead and manage a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Physical Requirements
  • Visual Acuity: Near visual acuity required for navigation and vessel operation.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit, stand, walk, grasp, and reach for extended periods; occasional lifting up to 50lbs may be required.
