Job Title: Marine Terminal Manager 2

Join the State of Louisiana team as a Marine Terminal Manager 2 and play a critical role in overseeing the planning and implementation of safe and efficient methods of handling cargoes, using of port facilities, and assignment of vessels to berths at the state's largest port (Port of New Orleans).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the scheduling and coordination of vessel berth assignments at the port's public facilities to ensure safe and efficient use of wharves for cargo handling, passenger use, vessel repairs, layup, grain cleaning, and inspections.
  • Plan and schedule wharf and terminal maintenance with appropriate Board managers and supervisors to avoid any delays or disruption to vessel and cargo operations at Board's marine facilities.
  • Supervise and monitor the work performance of the Berthing unit relative to the assignment of all vessels and inland watercraft to the Board's public facilities.
Requirements:
  • A baccalaureate degree plus four years of professional-level experience in port, marine, or wharf operations; or two years of experience in the supervision of other supervisory personnel in port, marine, or wharf operations.
  • Experience in port, marine, or wharf operations will substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • A baccalaureate degree with a minimum of twelve semester hours in transportation management will substitute for one year of the experience.
