Position Overview:

The Human Resources Specialist will collaborate closely with the HR Manager and provide support to the Site Leader at Crane Co. This role encompasses both administrative and strategic functions, focusing on essential areas such as talent acquisition, employee development, engagement initiatives, performance evaluation, and compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety standards. Additionally, this position will spearhead various corporate initiatives, including Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts, community outreach, and the management of our Intellectual Capital process. A high level of integrity, trust-building, and a proactive mindset are crucial for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):
  • Act as the primary point of contact for employees regarding inquiries or issues.
  • Collaborate with external partners to address benefits-related inquiries.
  • Manage the recruitment process, which includes:
    • Identifying qualified candidates through various sourcing methods.
    • Ensuring timely communication with applicants regarding their status.
    • Coordinating all activities related to recruitment and interviewing, including screening and offer letters.
    • Completing all pre-employment documentation, including background checks and reference verifications.
  • Coordinate employee relations matters with the HR Manager to ensure timely and effective resolutions.
  • Advocate for employees by mediating conflicts and promoting positive workplace relationships.
  • Support site initiatives related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Facilitate community engagement activities, including volunteer opportunities.
  • Conduct new employee orientations to foster a welcoming environment.
  • Ensure accurate processing of new hire documentation and updates in HR systems.
  • Handle requests for employment verifications and other related inquiries.
  • Maintain comprehensive records related to personnel, benefits, and recruitment.
  • Assist in generating reports on headcount, new hires, terminations, and turnover rates.
  • Update and maintain HR policies and procedures, ensuring timely distribution of revisions.
  • Regularly audit personnel files and compliance with employment regulations.
  • Maintain attendance records in accordance with established policies.
  • File Workers' Compensation reports and maintain OSHA logs.
  • Assist with EEO documentation and preparation of Affirmative Action Plans.
  • Coordinate communication with Workers' Compensation administrators to resolve cases promptly.
  • Support employees with leave of absence requests and update systems accordingly.
  • Assist the HR Manager in implementing various HR programs and providing site support.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications / Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of recruitment and staffing practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of Employment Laws (EEO, ADA, AA, FMLA, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ethical standards.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
  • PHR or SPHR certification.
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with HR software such as ADP, PeopleSoft, or Workday.
  • Experience in implementing and enforcing HR policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across various organizational levels.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience in a matrix organizational structure.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
