POSITION OVERVIEW: Join our team as a Paramedic specializing in Event Medical Services. Your role will involve providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) assessments of patients, formulating care plans, administering treatments, and deciding on patient transport or release. You will operate within a medical tent or designated area, or respond to emergencies in the field via foot or authorized quick response vehicle. This is a contract position based on availability.

TIME COMMITMENT: A minimum of two shifts per month is required. This contracted role necessitates working at least two paramedic shifts each month. EMT shifts may be counted if paramedic shifts are insufficient. Non-compliance with shift minimums may result in removal from the contractor list without prior notice. Ensure you have the necessary time commitment before applying.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deliver proactive medical assistance during events.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, recognizing signs of illness or injury, and support fellow medical staff as necessary.
  • Provide effective BLS and ALS care within licensure limits and MedStar Solutions protocols.
  • Document patient conditions and treatments accurately on EMS run reports, including relevant non-medical information when needed.
  • Perform regular inventory checks and equipment testing to ensure cleanliness and functionality.
  • Manage ALS drug inventory, promptly reporting any discrepancies to the event supervisor.
  • Exhibit thorough knowledge of BLS and ALS equipment and its proper usage.
  • Control patient environments in the absence of qualified personnel, minimizing risks and managing bystander actions.
  • Comply with FCC regulations regarding electronic communication equipment.
  • Participate in mandatory meetings and assist in setting up and dismantling medical facilities.
  • Communicate inventory needs and restock supplies as necessary.
  • Complete company reports and logs as required.
  • Assist in training new employees, adhering to required protocols and documenting necessary training.
  • Meet established shift requirements and comply with job descriptions, company policies, and relevant standards.
  • Stay informed about company protocols, operational procedures, and policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This role involves lifting or carrying patients and equipment, navigating stairs, and working in various geographic settings, including ditches, hills, and high elevations. You will also handle small, delicate items such as oxygen tubing and IV setups, assess emergency scenes, communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, and drive emergency vehicles.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: You may encounter environmental conditions such as extreme temperatures, hazardous materials, and outdoor emergency settings.

NOISE LEVELS: The noise levels may vary from moderate (e.g., office environments) to very loud (e.g., concerts).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a 911/EMS system or as an Emergency Technician in a Hospital Trauma Center.
  • State certification as a Paramedic, in accordance with state requirements.
  • Current CPR certification from an approved agency.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Completion of required FEMA IS Certifications.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to read, write, and effectively communicate with patients and colleagues.
  • Basic writing skills for reports and the ability to present information in small group settings.
  • Reliable transportation to duty assignments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • National EMS certification at the EMT level.
  • Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) certification.
  • Ability to operate large vehicles and tow trailers in various conditions.
