About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin, where you will play a critical role in the development of our lunar lander system. As a key member of our Lunar Permanence business unit, you will be responsible for defining and developing requirements and design artifacts for the system, as well as developing processes and strategies for managing specifications, design parameters, and technical performance measures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define requirements and design processes and strategies, including tools and infrastructure required to execute your vision
  • Own the vehicle product and specification tree
  • Manage and approve requirement changes and define change control processes for requirements and design parameter changes
  • Manage the definition of interface requirements and their verification
  • Understand and define relationships and traceability between requirements, design parameters, technical budgets, ICDs, program plans, and technical performance measures
  • Develop and execute plans for completing requirements and design products, coordinating across Integrated Product Teams
  • Perform compliance and traceability assessments and report key metrics and issues effectively to program leadership and stakeholders
  • Utilize good engineering and business judgment to ensure the most efficient and effective product is designed, manufactured, procured, tested, qualified, and delivered to satisfy mission objectives
  • Collaborate across Lunar Systems Engineers to develop best practices and find opportunities for common processes across projects
  • Embody, promote, and coach Blue Origin leadership principles
Requirements
  • Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space
  • B.S. degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of Systems Engineering experience performing activities such as requirements definition, traceability, interface definition, design documentation, integration, verification, and validation
  • Detailed knowledge of space systems design and requirements
  • Ability to lead and coordinate requirement products across stakeholders and experts from varying engineering fields
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate technical information effectively
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading technical reviews for a complex spaceflight or aviation system
  • Experience with design and construction standards for space systems
  • Experience with lunar, deep space, or planetary missions
  • Expertise with requirements management and systems engineering tools
