About Blue Origin

At Blue Origin, we're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Our mission is to have millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth.

Lunar Permanence Program

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. We're building a sustainable infrastructure to transport crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

Job Summary

We're seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to manage the execution of the Program design and construction standards, as well as lead the production and closure of requirement variances. Your work will enable the development of the Human Landing System (HLS) crew lander and Human-class Delivery Lander (HDL) cargo lander.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the execution of the Program design and construction standards with Blue Origin and NASA technical leads.
  • Establish the process for requirement variances (deviations, waivers, and exceptions) and manage the production, review, and closeout of all variances against Program and NASA requirements.
  • Track metrics that communicate progress in completing work on technical standards and variances.
  • Perform technical work and provide technical leadership of the highest caliber.
  • Utilize good engineering and business judgement to ensure the most efficient and effective product is designed, manufactured, procured, tested, qualified, and delivered.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or another technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in the use of design and construction standards to produce complex systems.
  • Experience with identifying and vetting requirement non-compliances and capturing rationale and mitigation plans for resolution.
  • Experience with NASA development program(s).
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with the Blue Origin SLD Program, either MK1 or MK2.
  • Experience working on a verification program for a complex spaceflight or aviation system.
  • Experience with requirements and V&V tracking tools, preferably using JAMA.
  • Experience operating on an Agile team.
Benefits

We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.

Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.

Discretionary bonus: Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
