Job Title: Seasonal Events Assistant

Mobile Loaves & Fishes (MLF) is a social outreach ministry that has been empowering communities into a lifestyle of service with the homeless since 1998. We are seeking a Seasonal Events Assistant to support the preparation, execution, and cleanup of the Village of Lights event at Community First Village.

Job Summary

The Seasonal Events Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all attendees, volunteers, and staff. This is a seasonal, non-exempt position reporting directly to the Events Manager, running from October through December, with a time commitment of approximately 12 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with various event-related tasks and on-site support
  • Create and manage QR codes for event use
  • Develop volunteer and staff role sheets for efficient task delegation
  • Conduct inventory of event décor and supplies
  • Assemble supplies for both volunteers and staff
  • Help create and put up signage around the event site
  • Research lighting options for event signage (uplighting)
  • Charge and prepare essential event tech equipment
  • Provide on-site support during the Village of Lights event
  • Aid in post-event tasks, including inventory, cleanup, and storage of event materials
Requirements
  • Commitment to serving those who have experienced homelessness and personal alignment with MLF's vision, mission, core values, and goals
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on ensuring smooth event logistics
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Proficient in the use of technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and Asana
  • Previous experience with event support preferred but not required
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Must be able to easily lift 30 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Ability to stand, climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch, to reach with hands and arms, and to move about the property
  • Willingness to work outdoors and engage in physical tasks such as event setup and teardown
