Role Overview
As a Large Commercial Underwriter II, you will play a crucial role in analyzing and underwriting business for Commercial Lines, aiming to achieve Combined Ratio and capital metric objectives. You will manage a portfolio valued between $15M and $25M while mentoring Underwriter I's and Trainees.

Key Responsibilities
In this position, your core duties will include:

  • Evaluating and underwriting a $15M to $25M portfolio to meet capital metrics and combined ratio targets.
  • Supporting the Senior Underwriter team in fulfilling accountabilities and achieving business unit objectives through sound decision-making and adherence to underwriting best practices.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with producers and enhancing existing partnerships.
  • Collaborating with the broader Commercial Lines team and other departments to enhance Velocity Risk's product offerings and service operations.
  • Managing, training, and mentoring Underwriting Assistants while providing guidance to Underwriter I's.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial insurance.
  • Professional insurance designations are a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
