Position Summary:
The Medical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for the collection and analysis of specimens for laboratory evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately records laboratory test outcomes and participates in Quality Control (QC), Quality Improvement (QI), and Total Quality Management (TQM) initiatives.
  • Collaborates effectively with laboratory staff, physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Engages in problem-solving, training, and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
  • Supervises the Medical Laboratory Technician and Lab Assistant.
  • Ensures precise examination and analysis to aid physicians in diagnosing patient conditions.
  • Handles infectious materials with care to safeguard laboratory personnel.
  • Collects blood samples as necessary, adhering to universal precautions.
  • Assists the Director in managing instrument repairs, supply orders, service contracts, and the acquisition of new equipment.
  • Operates and maintains all laboratory equipment proficiently.
  • Reviews and approves final test reports, quality control data, and testing protocols.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation of specimens and laboratory results.
  • Ensures a clean and organized work environment.
  • Participates in emergency training and adheres to safety guidelines.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all patient information.
  • Demonstrates composure and efficiency in high-pressure situations, managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Provides training and guidance to staff to ensure safe and effective laboratory practices.
  • Assists in evaluating the competency of testing personnel through direct observation.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and maintains updated procedures manuals.
  • Engages with sales representatives and participates in assigned committees.
  • Adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Performs additional duties as required.
  • Participates in on-call duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology.
  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Certification by ASCP or AMT.
Verification of credentials is mandatory prior to patient care responsibilities.
