ROLE OVERVIEW:

The MRI Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care within the Diagnostic Imaging department. This position involves operating MRI technology to conduct diagnostic imaging, collaborating with healthcare professionals to meet the organization’s objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilizes MRI machinery to obtain diagnostic images of specified body areas.
  • Conducts patient screenings to ensure MRI safety and exam suitability.
  • Performs daily Quality Assurance tasks as necessary.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of MRI examination rooms.
  • Independently manages patient positioning and care with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Ensures patient safety throughout the imaging process.
  • Enhances patient comfort during MRI procedures by providing noise-reducing headphones.
  • Communicates the examination process to patients and addresses their inquiries.
  • Administers contrast agents when required, ensuring patient safety.
  • Monitors patient health indicators prior to contrast administration.
  • Conducts safety screenings for staff and visitors entering MRI zones.
  • Familiarizes with departmental workflows, scheduling, and record-keeping protocols.
  • Utilizes Meditech and PACS systems for medical imaging and data management.
  • Maintains a tidy and organized work environment.
  • Engages in continuous professional development and maintains required certifications.
  • Assists in upholding departmental accreditation standards.
  • Responsible for MRI safety protocols and equipment maintenance.
  • Willingness to train and support colleagues in MRI practices.
  • Participates in departmental call rotations as needed.
  • Contributes to assigned committees and initiatives.
  • Adheres to all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in MRI technology.
  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
