POSITION SUMMARY:

The MRI Technologist plays a crucial role in delivering patient care within the Diagnostic Imaging department. This position involves operating Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment to conduct diagnostic tests and collaborating with medical staff to meet organizational objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate MRI machinery to obtain diagnostic images of specific body areas.
  • Conduct patient screenings to ensure MRI safety and exam suitability.
  • Perform daily Quality Assurance tasks as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of MRI rooms to ensure a safe environment for examinations.
  • Independently manage patient positioning and care with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Ensure patient safety throughout their time in the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
  • Enhance patient comfort during MRI procedures by providing noise-reducing headphones.
  • Clearly explain the MRI process to patients and address any inquiries.
  • Administer contrast materials when necessary and verify patient eligibility for such procedures.
  • Screen all accompanying individuals for MRI safety prior to entering restricted areas.
  • Familiarize oneself with departmental protocols, scheduling, and record-keeping processes.
  • Utilize Meditech and PACS for medical imaging and data management.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized workspace, ensuring proper storage of materials.
  • Stay current with professional certifications and affiliations to support ongoing professional development.
  • Comply with ethical standards and departmental guidelines.
  • Assist in maintaining accreditation standards as required.
  • Support and train fellow staff members in MRI procedures.
  • Be flexible to work across various modalities within the department as needed.
  • Participate in on-call rotations during evenings and weekends, particularly during peak seasons.
  • Engage in departmental committees as assigned.
  • Adhere to all applicable laws and regulatory standards.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; completion of an AMA accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a staff technologist with MRI expertise.
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
