Position Overview

Key Responsibilities of the Operations Leader:

The Operations Leader will be tasked with:

  • Providing strategic leadership and guidance for the daily operations of the designated business unit from Preconstruction through to Project Closeout.
  • Formulating and executing operational plans.
  • Optimizing overall business objectives to ensure maximum profitability.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Overseeing Project Managers, General Superintendents, and Superintendents.
  • Coordinating and ensuring quality assurance of drafting resources within Business Units.
  • Implementing enhancements in productivity, ensuring compliance with project standards, and maintaining quality assurance.
  • Ensuring consistency in Project and Field Management processes across the Business Unit.
  • Promoting safety, addressing safety violations, and providing coaching to mitigate risks.
  • Conducting Project Review meetings with Project Managers, General Superintendents, and Superintendents, including reviewing discrepancies in status reports, billings, and project cash flow.
  • Authorizing all additional pricing proposals to clients, including change orders, back charges, claims, and any modifications to contracts.
  • Resolving financial disputes between Installation and Engineering teams.
  • Identifying and monitoring potential Project Managers.
  • Tracking and reporting on risk management (insurance certificates, subcontractor bonds, safety measures, theft prevention).
  • Ensuring client satisfaction through effective collaboration with the project management and superintendent teams.

Qualifications

Essential Education, Experience, and Skills for the Operations Leader:

  • A minimum of 8 years of demonstrable experience in large-scale ($20M+) plumbing and HVAC commercial construction (e.g., Hotels, High-Rise Office Buildings, Hospitals).
  • Possession of a state plumbing license or at least 5 years of verifiable experience as an Operations Leader.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory capabilities, managing multiple superintendents and general superintendents on concurrent projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage various ongoing projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and competitors.
  • Ability to multitask and perform additional duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 6 months of safety training in other jurisdictions.

Travel Requirements:

Minimal travel (0-5%) to job sites or office locations may be necessary.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements:

  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often kneeling, standing, or sitting for extended durations.
  • Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Work in a quiet environment.
  • Light physical work, including adjusting and/or moving objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
