Job Summary:

The Security Officer provides 24/7 security services to ensure the safety and well-being of all colleagues and guests within the venue. This is an hourly position with benefits, requiring flexibility to work various shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Regularly inspect and maintain security equipment, including doors, fences, locks, and lighting, and report on their condition.
  • Screen guests and their belongings entering the venue, using electronic detectors and/or physical searches.
  • Inspect and screen vehicles entering the venue, using hand-held screening tools and/or physical searches.
  • Daily inspect the boiler-room, fire pump station, and ventilation rooms for mechanical issues.
  • Monitor and patrol the venue, including the parking garage and grounds, to identify and resolve safety concerns.
  • Prevent, deter, and deny opportunities for unlawful or unauthorized activities within the venue.
  • Respond to alarms, disturbances, or incidents within the venue.
  • Provide escorts and personal protection to colleagues or guests as needed.
  • Operate access and intrusion control systems, fire control systems, and credentialing systems.
  • Accept deliveries and track packages using the Pitney Bowes system.
  • Write accurate incident reports, including recording information, observations, and occurrences.
  • Notify security management and/or authorities as situations dictate.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of security equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective security operations.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to learn and use advanced technology to promote security operations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions and comprehend verbal instructions.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with others, especially during stressful situations.
  • Good judgment and emotional control when interacting with colleagues and guests.
  • Integrity in all aspects of job duties and performance.
  • Reliability in reporting for work on time and when assigned.
  • Ability to present a professional appearance in accordance with grooming and dress code standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use a walkie-talkie and/or other communication devices to communicate with security personnel.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current or previous experience in law enforcement, fire service, medical service, security, or military preferred.
  • Reliable transportation required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience in security and/or the sports and entertainment industry preferred.
Working Conditions:
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be able to work up to 30 hours a week.
  • Must be able to work any shift, including days, afternoons, or midnights.
  • Flexible schedule to include working weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods, usually 8 hours.
  • Must be able to navigate stairs.
  • Must be able to bend and lift objects necessary to perform primary duties.
  • Must be able to work in various outdoor climates, including extreme heat and cold, humidity, rain, and darkness.
  • Must be able to defend self or others, using minimal physical force if necessary, and only in accordance with corporate use of force policies.
