Slot Type: Full term (11 months)

Hours: Full-time placement (40 hours/week)

Stipend: $35,200

About the Role:

The Climate Action Communications Specialist will play a pivotal role in advancing Michigan's climate initiatives. This position is integral to enhancing communication strategies and fostering community engagement around sustainability efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing and implementing communication strategies related to climate action.
  • Contribute to the creation of a quarterly newsletter focused on climate initiatives.
  • Enhance the organization's social media presence to promote sustainability projects.
  • Support ongoing renewable energy initiatives and collaborative partnerships.
  • Engage in outreach activities to educate the community about climate resources.
  • Participate in professional development and training sessions to enhance skills.
  • Facilitate community input sessions to gather feedback on climate action plans.
Evaluation and Reporting:
  • Conduct mid-year performance evaluations.
  • Complete required reporting, including timesheets and narrative reports.
Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a strong interest in environmental issues and community engagement. Essential skills include:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Applications.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Reside in Michigan.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
Compensation:

Members will receive a living allowance of $35,200, distributed bi-weekly. Additional benefits include student loan forbearance, health care benefits, and professional development opportunities.
