POSITION SUMMARY:

As an Aerospace Guidance and Navigation Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of aircraft capabilities tailored for various public and private sector clients. You will oversee navigation solutions that align with our aircraft specifications. This role is situated within the software and sensors division, reporting directly to the department director.

The role of the Guidance and Navigation Engineer encompasses the design, integration, and testing of GNC systems, requiring a proactive and skilled engineer to lead this critical functional area. You will work on diverse aircraft platforms, developing cutting-edge flight navigation and guidance algorithms, creating integrated navigation systems, conducting mission planning and analysis, performing system performance evaluations, and implementing simulation solutions to meet client needs. Your work will provide insight into contemporary navigation and simulation development practices, which will be integrated into Toofon aircraft.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in software development.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Linux, C++/CMake, Python, and VSCode for C++.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in the development and implementation of software, sensors, and data for Unmanned Aerial Systems.
  • Preferred Skills: Strong leadership capabilities and a self-directed learner.
  • Language Proficiency: English.
  • Other: High energy and motivation are essential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply engineering principles and industry standards, leveraging knowledge of vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, propulsion, and control theory to achieve advanced project objectives.
  • Conduct trade studies for guidance, navigation, and state estimation components, evaluating options for sensors such as lidars, GPS receivers, and optical systems.
  • Design and guide the development of navigation systems, simulations, models, and analytical techniques.
  • Implement navigation algorithms within flight software and assist in flight software qualification testing.
  • Support early design phase activities, including actuator sizing, sensor selection, and performance assessments.
  • Analyze and validate aircraft navigation subsystem performance through simulations and analytical tools.
  • Collaborate with the team to integrate and test all navigation components of the aircraft.
  • Document designs, analyses, and test outcomes, creating presentation materials as needed.
  • Engage in navigation tasks, including system trade studies and modeling of inertial measurement units (IMU) and global positioning systems (GPS).
  • Work with embedded software to develop real-time GNC algorithms for UAS products.
  • Conduct complex trade studies to identify and recommend solutions to technical challenges.
  • Lead mission planning and analyses to define aircraft trajectories and performance specifications.
  • Develop and integrate navigation and guidance algorithms to fulfill mission and trajectory requirements.
  • Create models, simulations, and tools to support navigation system development and analysis.
