Position Summary:

The Teller I role is designed to provide an exceptional customer experience by delivering reliable and value-driven services aimed at fostering enduring customer relationships. Responsibilities include executing teller functions such as processing deposits, withdrawals, cashing checks, and managing change orders with precision. The role requires the application of sound judgment to validate transactions, escalating any concerns to a higher authority as necessary. A professional demeanor in appearance and conduct is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement:

  • Adhere to Southside Bank's customer service protocols during all interactions.
  • Deliver services with accuracy and efficiency to enhance customer trust.
  • Achieve or surpass operational and sales objectives set by management, including balancing and attendance.
  • Conduct follow-up calls to thank customers and resolve issues as directed.
  • Be knowledgeable about the bank's products and services, articulating their benefits to customers.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities during customer transactions and address the needs of new and prospective clients.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of sensitive information and records.
  • Provide accurate account information to customers.

Operational Integrity:

  • Comply with Southside Bank's established policies and procedures.
  • Implement measures to prevent fraudulent activities, including verifying identities and reviewing account histories.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting procedures for applicable transactions.
  • Maintain cash drawer limits and meet daily balancing standards, reporting any discrepancies to management.
  • Process customer deposits and cash checks within authorized limits, seeking approval for larger transactions.
  • Assist customers with special requests, such as selling official checks and processing loan payments.
  • Follow audit protocols relevant to this position.
  • Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering laws.

Team Collaboration:

  • Foster a positive environment for both customers and colleagues, aligned with Southside Bank's mission.
  • Contribute to a supportive team atmosphere within the branch.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development through training and relevant seminars.
  • Assist with branch opening and closing procedures.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory.
  • Preferred experience includes at least 6 months in cash handling or customer service.
  • Proficient in typing, 10-key calculations, and data entry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Completion of required training programs as specified by Southside Bank.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform sedentary tasks typical of administrative roles.
  • Manual dexterity is required for handling items and operating office equipment.

Work Environment:

  • Indoor office setting with appropriate lighting and climate control.
  • Moderate noise levels typical of a business office.
