Position Overview:


As the Chief Marketing Officer, you will be responsible for crafting and executing comprehensive marketing strategies aimed at enhancing brand visibility and driving revenue growth for Merlin Entertainments.

You will oversee all facets of advertising, media relations, public engagement, event marketing, partnerships, and promotional activities, along with managing relevant budgets and policies.

In this role, you will develop and lead a high-performing marketing team, collaborating closely with stakeholders from the North American marketing leadership.

This position requires a strategic mindset capable of operating at a high level while also engaging with intricate details to ensure the organization is on the right path, delivering cohesive marketing and branding solutions.


Key Responsibilities:


Provide effective leadership to the marketing team and other stakeholders to achieve objectives and ensure the successful execution of marketing strategies and plans.

Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture, offering clear guidance, resources, training, and career development opportunities for the marketing team.

Advocate for the customer perspective, ensuring that marketing plans and campaigns are customer-centric, supported by thorough analyses of business opportunities through market research, industry trends, and competitive insights.

Collaborate with internal teams, department heads, and external agencies to ensure consistent brand messaging across all aspects of the attraction.

Formulate, develop, and implement an annual marketing plan and calendar that aligns with organizational goals.

Design long-term marketing strategies based on forecasts and objectives, in partnership with the Regional Marketing SVP and Division Director.

Establish clear, measurable objectives, develop budgets, and set timelines to achieve volume, revenue, and profitability targets through effective management of marketing activities and budget allocations.

Ensure that Merlin Entertainments maintains strong media relationships in key markets while exploring opportunities in new markets.

Lead the execution of optimized media campaigns across various platforms in collaboration with the Head of Media for Merlin Parks North America.

Assess campaign performance and adjust strategies to enhance efficiency, consistently seeking to optimize approaches and identify growth opportunities.

Represent the marketing function within the site-level Senior Leadership Team, advocating for the guest's voice and championing the Merlin brand.

Align social media strategies with the Head of Social Media for North America across all key platforms.

Monitor competitor initiatives, industry trends, target audience behaviors, and ensure a competitive position in the marketplace through strategic pricing, annual pass strategies, and innovative campaigns.

Partner with the guest experience team to ensure alignment with core brand values and guest expectations.

Develop and maintain effective strategic partnerships and relationships with partners, corporate staff, community groups, and external agencies.

Manage the creation and execution of key promotions and partnerships with multiple strategic partners.

Collaborate with the Regional Head of Strategy and Insights to provide insights on new events and attractions based on guest research and analytics, ensuring events are marketed effectively to enhance guest experiences.

Work with Human Resources to establish a succession management program that meets current and future organizational needs.

Qualifications & Experience:


Education: Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or advertising.

Experience: 7+ years of demonstrated experience, with at least 5 years in a management role leading teams in relevant marketing disciplines such as advertising, media, public relations, promotions, partnerships, project management, and digital marketing.

Skills: Proven networking and influencing abilities across leisure, tourism, and business sectors.

A passion for marketing, with the capability to inspire and engage others to achieve or exceed targets.

Demonstrated qualities of a dynamic team member while providing clear leadership and direction to staff.

Excellent presentation skills and confidence to represent the organization at a senior level, both internally and externally.

Strong commercial acumen with effective budget management skills.

Ability to develop programs that achieve key revenue objectives.

Excellent judgment and the ability to self-initiate and develop, implement, and complete short, medium, and long-term plans.

Strong analytical and communication skills (both verbal and written).
