Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residential Substance Use Counselor to join our team at Catholic Charities Family Community Services. As a key member of our residential program, you will provide essential support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide residential and clinical support services to clients, including individual therapy sessions and case management.
  • Carry a caseload of clients and complete necessary paperwork in compliance with agency and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a trauma-informed care environment and effective communication among team members.
  • Assist clients in meeting requirements for Department of Human Services (DHS) and provide life skill programming, including vocational/educational planning and readiness, parenting, anger management, and financial literacy.
  • Facilitate life skills education through one-on-one sessions and coordinate schedules of outside speakers to support life skill programming.
  • Monitor residents to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment and document any unusual incidents or situations.
  • Communicate with residential team members and program manager regarding client and residential community needs.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Social Work or a related Human Services field.
  • Valid and clean NYS Driver's License and use of a registered and reliable vehicle.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with substance use disorder clients or mental health services.
  • CASAC-T, CASAC, LMSW, LCSW, NCCC, LMHC, CRC, RN, or PhD required.
