About the Position

The Virginia Department of State Police is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Program Support Technician in our Criminal Justice Information Services Division at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia.

Job Duties
  • Ensure the accuracy of offender information obtained through registrations.
  • Maintain compliance of sex offenders with the laws that govern the Registry, through the review, research, and analysis of data from various databases and sources in accordance to the laws that govern the Registry pursuant to § through § of the Code of Virginia.
  • Respond to questions, concerns, issues, and tips posed by the sex offenders, law enforcement, and the public by phone and email relative to offender's registration and re-registration requirements set forth in the Code.
  • Validate and enter initial registrations and also verify registrations entered into the sex offender registration file.
  • Enter discrepancies for Sex Offender regions (SOR) Regions 2, 3 & 5 from the updates provided by the SOR staff via email and discrepancy queues.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Skill in using a computer and using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and analyze information and make logical decisions based on policies, procedures, and laws.
  • Progressively responsible administrative experience in researching and analyzing data from a variety of sources to determine validity and identify missing elements.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be eligible to become Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified, which requires either being a United States citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for
