Job Overview

Position Title: Lethality Assessment Program (LAP) Specialist

Work Schedule: 20 Hours (Monday to Friday)

Employment Status: Nonexempt

Reports To: Director of Educational Initiatives

Position Summary: This role is pivotal in enhancing the coordination of LAP initiatives aimed at delivering essential services to individuals experiencing intimate partner violence who are at significant risk for fatal outcomes. The Specialist will facilitate timely follow-ups with victims to bolster emergency safety planning and encourage help-seeking behaviors. Services will be provided to individuals referred by partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and document follow-up interactions with victims assessed through the LAP to enhance emergency safety planning and support seeking.
  • Coordinate and document follow-ups with individuals referred by partner organizations.
  • Participate in updated LAP training sessions to gain insights into modifications of the lethality assessment tool that are more accessible and inclusive.
  • Assist the LAP Coordinator in organizing and conducting regional training sessions for law enforcement, focusing on the updated LAP assessment and protocol.
  • Provide information regarding organizational programs and services, fostering discussions on improving collaboration between law enforcement and domestic violence advocates.
  • Conduct a minimum of two informational sessions on LAP for partner organizations to support a coordinated community response in identifying and assisting victims.
  • Collaborate with legal authorities and law enforcement leadership to facilitate discussions aimed at developing a comprehensive action plan for informed domestic violence screening and practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working with victims and their families, demonstrating an ability to engage with diverse populations and address their unique challenges.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.

Training Requirements:

  • Complete a minimum of 15 hours of professional development training annually.
  • Fulfill the required 45-hour counselor/advocate training.
  • Participate in the LAP train-the-trainer program.

Team Collaboration:

  • Accurately complete required data collection and prepare monthly reports detailing progress and challenges for supervisory review.

Additional Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Access to reliable transportation for travel.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours to meet program demands.
  • Compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Clearances as mandated by state regulations.
