Job Overview:
Key Responsibilities

As a vital member of the pharmacy team, you will provide compassionate pharmacy consulting services to patients, ensuring they understand the effective use of their medications and are aware of potential drug interactions. You will also deliver preventive and clinical healthcare services, which include immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome evaluations.

Your role involves the accurate compounding, dispensing, reviewing, and verifying of prescribed medications in compliance with regulatory standards and company protocols.

In addition, you will support the pharmacy's operational efficiency and assist the pharmacy manager in identifying strategies to enhance financial performance, manage inventory effectively, and improve the overall patient experience.

Core Duties

Patient Engagement

You will greet patients warmly and assist them with their inquiries regarding products and services. Addressing patient concerns promptly and effectively is essential to ensure a positive experience.


Exemplifying customer service excellence, you will share best practices with team members to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere, demonstrating interpersonal skills such as eye contact, courtesy, and active listening.

You will proactively connect with patients to anticipate their needs and offer relevant services.


Enhancing patient experience is a priority, and you will promote awareness of healthcare services available through Walgreens, such as medication management and wellness services, transitioning the pharmacy's role from transactional to relational.


Participating in community events that reflect the diverse populations we serve is also part of your responsibilities.

Operational Excellence


You will provide counsel to patients, addressing their questions about medication usage, side effects, interactions, and privacy concerns, while referring them to medical providers as necessary to ensure proper medication adherence and satisfaction.

Your tasks will include compounding, conducting drug therapy reviews, and managing medication effectively.

You will ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with all relevant regulations and company policies.

Supporting the pharmacy manager, you will help establish procedures that enhance workflow efficiency, assign roles, coordinate activities, and encourage team member input.

You will be responsible for pharmacy opening and closing procedures and shift change duties.


Adhering to the Good Faith Dispensing policy in conjunction with state and federal controlled substance laws is crucial when filling prescriptions.

The Product Review/Retail Fill Process Pharmacist will ensure that all elements of Good Faith are present.


Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy systems, including workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, and inventory management, is essential to provide support to both patients and pharmacy staff.

You will seek innovative ways to enhance productivity.

Accurate processing of insurance claims is necessary to resolve patient issues and prevent payment rejections. You will follow up with insurance companies and medical providers and participate in third-party audits.


Engaging with medical providers to clarify prescribed medications, dosages, and interactions will be part of your role, ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.

You will also perform clinical and wellness services, including immunizations and diagnostic testing.


Supporting the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data related to pharmacy finances and customer service will be a key aspect of your responsibilities.

Building and maintaining strong relationships with local healthcare providers is vital.


Engaging in community outreach initiatives to promote pharmacy services and foster growth opportunities is encouraged.

You will collaborate with centralized support for patient registration and issue resolution.

Team Development

Assisting the Pharmacy Manager with staff recruitment and training will be part of your duties.

You will reinforce the Pharmacy Manager's directives regarding staff performance through coaching, constructive feedback, and monitoring customer service standards.

Promoting teamwork and motivating team members by setting clear expectations and recognizing achievements will be essential.

Continuous Learning

Staying current with required licensing and certifications as mandated by federal and state regulations is necessary to provide clinical services.

Maintaining knowledge of pharmacy and healthcare developments through reading industry-related publications and pursuing best practices will enhance your performance.

Obtaining necessary certifications and training as required by the company is expected.


Seeking professional growth by evaluating your performance and soliciting feedback will be encouraged.

Communication


You will support the Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager by sharing relevant corporate health and wellness information with pharmacy staff.
