Job Summary

ASRC Federal is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Anchorage, AK. The successful candidate will provide electrical, control, and communications engineering expertise in support of operation and maintenance of USAF facilities in a remote and austere environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide electrical design and project management expertise for facilities and operations.
  • Assist in the formulation and development of electrical engineering discipline costs and pricing estimates for operations and maintenance work and projects.
  • Work in a team environment to analyze operational efficiency activities, identify cost-effective sustaining and engineering improvements, and provide design input on projects.
  • Coordinate with other system owners, maintenance crews, and construction trades to drive projects and daily tasks.
  • Develop operations and maintenance documentation and collaborate with vendors providing services.
  • Provide design engineering input for existing system modification, upgrades, and new equipment installations.
  • Support operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all electrical distribution systems and equipment.
  • Create, review, and implement electrical switching procedures required to move loads for maintenance and construction activities.
  • Provide Operations and Maintenance (O&M) engineering for high and medium voltage distribution systems, including Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).
  • Support low voltage power systems and electric metering and power generation.
  • Perform design review and scoping of low, medium, and high voltage electrical system improvements.
  • Track system loads, forecast consumption, and maintain utility budgets.
  • Prepare proposals, including design, estimating, and scheduling of proposed projects.
  • Provide project management for engineering designs and construction projects by subcontractors.
  • Perform facility condition assessments and prepare reports.
  • Travel to remote sites, estimated 25%, for project work and assessments.
  • Develop and oversee the electrical safety program, including preparing and updating the electrical safety program plan, in compliance with NFPA 70E.
  • Perform administrative duties and maintain assigned workplace, materials, and equipment in a safe, secure, and neat condition.
  • Bring to the attention of Management incidents or circumstances that could adversely affect the performance of the project.
Requirements
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in facilities engineering with increasing responsibility in electrical design and project management.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Design experience in electrical engineering and a rudimentary knowledge of architectural and other engineering disciplines.
  • Prior experience and ability to write/review project proposals, plans, and specifications, develop and maintain project budgets, design and manage subcontracts, organize and manage construction crews, and coordinate with local, State, and Federal agencies.
  • Skilled in the writing of Work Instructions, Scopes of Work, and other Technical documents.
  • Demonstrated independent work initiative, sound judgment, diplomacy, and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to travel individually or in a group to remote sites, including small aircraft, and remain overnight for extended periods.
  • Experience with fire alarm instrumentation and control systems.
  • Skilled in the reading and interpretation of Contractual documents.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilities engineering in a tropical and/or arctic environment at remote locations.
  • Field work required to investigate new construction/repair project requirements and evaluate/assess existing facility and infrastructure systems.
  • Proficient in standard business office software and familiar with AutoCAD.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and written.
  • Proven ability to think independently and handle multiple projects through to completion.
Preferred Requirements
  • Master's degree in engineering or ten years of experience in a related field.
  • Professional Electrical Engineer's registration in the State of Alaska.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience or training in arc-flash analysis.
