Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Sales Clerk Leader to join our team at the Coast Guard Exchange. As a Sales Clerk Leader, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining product knowledge, and assisting with the selection of merchandise. You will also be responsible for the overall operations of the sales department, including ordering merchandise, receiving, pricing, and monitoring stock levels. Additionally, you will communicate directly with HQ staff to resolve special-order requests and merchandise issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide outstanding customer service and maintain product knowledge.
  • Assist with the selection of merchandise and resolve customer concerns.
  • Oversee the overall operations of the sales department, including ordering, receiving, pricing, and monitoring stock levels.
  • Communicate directly with HQ staff to resolve special-order requests and merchandise issues.
  • Assist store management team in training employees on cash register and front-end duties.
  • Operate a cash register, accept payments, and collect cash receipts.
  • Investigate discrepancies in register tapes and prepare cash overage and shortage records.
  • Control and secure change funds, safes, and cash registers.
  • Key carrier, opening and closing the store as required.
  • Direct and supervise other employees in the absence of management.

Requirements:
  • Previous retail experience in inventory control and sales.
  • Experience operating a cash register and working knowledge of sales inventory.
  • Previous retail supervisory experience in the performance of the above referenced duties.
  • Current USCG NAF sales clerk with at least 6 months' experience as a USCG NAF sales clerk.
