Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Food Services Director to lead our culinary operations at the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our kitchen, ensuring the delivery of high-quality meals to our youth and staff, and maintaining a safe and healthy food environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative and Supervisory Duties
    • Manage the daily operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, inventory management, and staff supervision.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and standards.
    • Conduct regular inspections to ensure a clean and safe food environment.
  • Food Service Management
    • Plan and implement menus that meet the nutritional needs of our youth and staff.
    • Manage food ordering, inventory, and storage to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
    • Supervise food preparation and service to ensure high-quality meals are delivered to our customers.
  • Staff Supervision and Development
    • Recruit, train, and develop a team of food service staff to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties effectively.
    • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to staff to improve performance and address any issues.
  • Financial Management
    • Manage food service budgets to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
    • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Conduct regular quality assurance checks to ensure food safety and quality standards are met.
    • Investigate and resolve any food safety or quality issues that arise.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as food science, nutrition, or hospitality.
    • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role in a food service environment.
  • Certifications and Training
    • ServSafe certification or equivalent.
    • Food safety and handling training.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Strong leadership and management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
Working Conditions

The Food Services Director will work in a kitchen environment with frequent exposure to heat, noise, and chemicals. The position requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and frequent bending and stooping.
