Overview:
A Lead Financial Auditor engages in significant, professional responsibilities in executing financial assessments, operational evaluations, performance reviews, and various other assignments within state agencies, educational institutions, and local government entities.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive financial assessments, operational evaluations, performance reviews, or other assignments at state agencies, educational institutions, and local government entities.
2. Develop audit strategies and programs, coordinate team assignments, and oversee the audit team's output.
3. Review and assess accounting systems and internal controls, analyze and reconcile financial records, and perform necessary testing and related procedures.
4. Compile and analyze statistical data to determine compliance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
5. Prepare detailed reports with recommendations for enhancing accounting practices, information systems, program operations, and management controls.
6. Engage with governmental representatives to discuss audit findings and recommendations.
7. Assist in training and supervising junior auditors, assigning tasks, and reviewing their work.
8. Contribute to the preparation of audit programs and the development of audit methodologies.
9. Perform additional related duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient understanding of accounting, auditing, and relevant professional standards.
- Familiarity with research methodologies and applicable laws and regulations.
- Competence in using personal computing technology.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data effectively.

Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a major in accounting, including additional coursework meeting the educational requirements for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant, along with two years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, possession of a CPA certificate recognized by the appropriate regulatory body.
