Job Title: Water Resources Engineer - FEMA Risk MT- 2

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Resources Engineer to join our team at CDM Smith. As a member of our Water Resources team, you will contribute to our mission by performing a variety of routine technical tasks that will provide experience and familiarization with our engineering methods, practices, standards, and company programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing routine technical tasks to provide experience and familiarization with CDM Smith's engineering methods, practices, standards, and company programs.
  • Using prescribed methods to perform specific and limited portions of broader assignments.
  • Working under direct supervision, receiving specific and detailed instructions as to required tasks and expected results.
  • Helping to oversee a team to complete tasks associated with floodplain mapping and floodplain management, hydrology and hydraulics, and project reviews of FEMA Letters of Map Revision.
  • Providing oversight, guidance, and upholding quality standards.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Civil, Coastal or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer).
  • 5 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with water resources issues related to floodplain modeling and management, hydraulic modeling, and in-stream and civil design.
  • Data management and analysis skills using standard platforms.
  • Familiarity with HEC RAS, HEC-HMS and/or other common H&H modeling platforms, ArcGIS, and design platforms such as AutoCAD preferred.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and teamwork skills desired.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager.
