Position Overview

Peraton's Risk Decision Group stands as a premier provider of federal background investigation services, proudly supporting various government entities for over two decades. We are actively looking to fill a vital position for a full-time Credentialed Background Investigator. Our team exemplifies outstanding quality, integrity, and professionalism, with a dedicated focus on National Security. We boast a proficient workforce of employees and contractors across all 50 U.S. states, including territories such as Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

Key Responsibilities:

The Investigator will undertake a range of investigative duties, adhering to operational protocols while reviewing gathered information, conducting interviews with acquaintances, and collecting pertinent documents from law enforcement and credit agencies. A comprehensive summary of findings will be presented to our federal government clients.

The Investigator's responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:
  • Executing background investigations to assess the employment suitability of individuals requiring access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information.
  • The primary casework supports the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), with additional assignments based on performance and business requirements.
  • Conducting in-person interviews with subjects, their neighbors, employers, friends, and family.
  • Performing record searches at police departments, courthouses, educational institutions, and medical/mental health facilities.
  • Documenting all collected information in a clear and concise report using an assigned government computer system.
  • Completing other duties as assigned.
  • Local and occasional travel outside the primary work area is required, constituting approximately 15-20% of the work week.
  • Opportunities for Temporary Duty Assignments several times a year, lasting from days to weeks.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • Recent direct field investigations experience conducting DCSA/NBIB background investigations within the last 18 months.
  • Candidates with four years of general work experience or a bachelor's degree may be considered.
  • Active favorable TS clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, ethics, and integrity.
  • Proven metrics in quality, timeliness, and productivity.
  • Intermediate typing skills (40+ WPM recommended) and computer proficiency.
  • Capability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone, with a high degree of accuracy in recording, reading, and transcribing information.
  • Ability to perform tasks that prevent errors and omissions, maintaining visual acuity for computer work.
  • Capacity to write for extended periods, meet attendance and punctuality expectations, and interact professionally with others.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are essential. Public transportation may be utilized if available and practical. Driving is a critical function of the role, and Motor Vehicle Records may be reviewed as part of the hiring process.
  • Required to maintain sufficient motor vehicle insurance, with specifics subject to change.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 10 pounds.
