Java Software Engineer

SUMMARY:
We are seeking qualified candidates to engage in the modernization of a legacy system. The role involves working on an unclassified application.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
The chosen candidate will collaborate with a team dedicated to the support and development of Electronic Records Management Services (RMS). This application offers a contemporary, secure, and advanced capability that adheres to external regulatory standards, including the electronic maintenance, storage, search, audit, reporting, retrieval, lockdown, and disposition of both permanent and temporary records.
We are looking for a proactive individual with a robust background in Java development, particularly for critical projects that include software enhancements and initiatives aimed at improving data ingestion processes.
Responsibilities include investigating and resolving code ingestion challenges, performing comprehensive analyses, and implementing necessary fixes.
The candidate will support application maintenance and enhancements based on requirements, proactively identifying and rectifying potential issues before they lead to outages, and executing required code modifications.
Identifying and addressing issues that may arise during the ingestion process, such as scripts becoming unresponsive or encountering errors, will be essential.
Engagement with the customer throughout the development lifecycle is crucial, including gathering requirements, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring the timely delivery of solutions.
This position requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment utilizing agile methodologies, along with a willingness to tackle challenges creatively to meet customer requirements.
DESIRED SKILLS:
In addition to the minimum qualifications, candidates should possess at least two (2) years of demonstrable experience in two or more of the following areas:
- Agile development methodologies
- Software Configuration Management
- DevOps Automation
- Software quality processes, including unit tests and/or automated testing
- System/Software documentation
- Cloud Hosting Platforms
- Containerization
QUALIFICATIONS:
ACTIVE TS/SCI FS POLY CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, along with at least six (6) years of relevant experience is mandatory. Alternatively, four (4) years of additional software engineering experience on similar projects may substitute for a bachelor's degree. An industry-recognized professional certification may also count as one (1) year of experience.
A master's degree in computer science, System Engineering, or a related field may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
